although 在句首的用法

Although 可以置於句首，後接一個包含主語和謂語的子句，形成「Although + S + V」的結構。由於 although 是一個從屬子句，它需要有一個主要子句來構成完整的語意。

結構:

although + S1 + V1 + …, S2 + V2 + …

範例:

• Although it was rainy, we put on our jackets and went for a walk.
  (儘管下雨，但我們仍然穿上外套去散步。)
• Although the laptop was expensive, I still bought it.
  (雖然這台筆記型電腦很昂貴，但我還是買了它。)

重要注意:

• 在翻譯成漢語時，although 的意思是「雖然……但是……」，但在英語中，主要子句不能使用“but”
• 相反地，只需用逗號（,）來分隔兩個子句即可。

除了可以位於句首外，although 也可以放在句中，結構如下：

S1 + V1 + … although S2 + V2 + …

• She’ll be coming tonight although I don’t know exactly when.

• I still bought that dress although it was expensive.
